Everton full-back Seamus Coleman is an integral part of manager Roberto Martineza s plans, and it seems unlikely that the Merseyside club would entertain any bids for the player, from Manchester United.
United boss Louis van Gaal has been looking to strengthen the defence of his top-heavy team, and has been trying to sign a few defenders, the most prominent of whom, is said to be Real Madrid central defender Sergio Ramos.
However, van Gaal has been facing problems on the right-back position, with Ecuadorian Antonio Valencia filling in for the perpetually-injured Rafael, last season. The problem with this is that Valencia is traditionally, a right-winger, who is filling-in as an attacking right-back.
This is bound to cause some defensive lapses, which, the Dutch manager seems to be looking to eliminate, ahead of the start of the 2015/16 season. For this, he has reportedly been looking to sign Evertona s 2013/14 player of the season Coleman.
However, according to Liverpool Echo, The Toffees are going to give it their best, in order to keep one of the best defender in their squad.
With a tackle-success rate of 84.12 per cent, and one key pass per game, Coleman adds to both the dimensions of a teama s play (defence and attack). According to Squawka, Coleman has done more take-ons than any other defender, last season a 49.

However, in case the Dutchman is unable to convince the Everton management, of looking into their bid to land Coleman, he could actually look for some options, closer to home, with Guillermo Varela, of Uruguay.
The youngster has been on loan, last season, at Real Madrid B, and has impressed Reala s second team coach Zinedine Zidane, who reportedly believes that Varela would have a bright future at Real.
It is believed that Varela might get his chance to impress van Gaal, during the matches, at the pre-season, in USA, after which the Dutchman might take a call on the young full-back.
As of now, the Red Devils indeed do need to strengthen their defence, and stop conceding cheap goals. It remains to be seen whether Evertona s stand on Coleman is an actual effort to keep the player, or whether it is just a ploy to inflate his transfer fee.
