Earlier, Arsene Wenger had quashed rumors, that the Gunners had a huge stock pile of cash waiting for them, available to spend, with the club allegedly capable of signing any footballer apart from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Lord Harris of Peckham had earlier boldly stated that the 65-year-old will have the backing of the board, should he be interested in breaking the club’s trasnfer record again to sign that elusive striker who could help them win a first league title in 11 years.

French striker Olivier Giroud opened the scoring for the home side, as he helped in a Mesut Ozil free-kick to find the back of the net. Oxlade Chamberlain then latched onto a beautiful pass from Giroud, before expertly burying it into the opposite corner of the net. Then, 19-year-old youngster Alex Iwobi scored a breathtakingly beautiful goal, as he side-footed an Aaron Ramsey pass into the back of the net, after some lightning quick counter from the Gunners. Aaron Ramsey then made it four for the home team, stabbing home a low Ozil cross from the left hand side.

Arsenal FC continued their dominant display in the second half, with the midfielders combining beautifully with each other to get into pockets of space and score whenever the opportunity presents. Mesut Ozil made it five for Arsenal FC, as he powerfully buried a half-volley from the edge of the box, before Santi Cazorla completed the rout with a low free-kick which creeped under the Lyon wall.

Arsenal FC will again be seen in action tomorrow against the Bundesliga runners-up Wolfsburg, and if their form is anything to go by, expect serious fireworks tomorrow as the Emirates Cup comes to a conclusion.
