Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino to take over the managerial position vacated by Tim Sherwood.
Tottenham Hotspur were looking for a new manager since the sacking of Tim Sherwood and it was reported that Ajax manager Frank De Boer and Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino were the leading candidates. Two weeks have passed since, as one of them is finally emerging as the favourite to succeed Tim Sherwood.
Southampton manager Maurico Pochettino is highly regarded at St.Mary’s for his attacking brand of football, and the incorporation of youth players in the first team. These features are the primary attributes which Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy and Technical Director Franco Baldini are looking for in the managerial transfer market. The Argentine has ticked the right boxes and it is reported that he is in talks with the Tottenham think tank to succeed Andre Villas Boas as the permanent manager. Even though Tim Sherwood was given a temporary opportunity, he couldn’t grab the opening as his impressive win percentage was overshadowed by a high number of losses, especially derby defeats.
