Brendan Rodgers has commented on the vitality of Champions League football to attract top talents and is believed to be in the market seriously looking for quality additions to his squad, which would potentially be in the elite competition next season.
The Premier League side has the current best strike partnership in the form of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge- the duo has been in truly scintillating form this season. However, Brendan Rodgers knows that he needs to make quality additions in the summer so injury doesn’t play a spoilsport for the club as he is believed to be worried about the lack of replacements, should the two be sidelined with injuries. The likes of Iago Aspas, and Fabio Borini (returning from loan) are not great replacements for the two as both the players did not/ have not shown their flare for the Reds.
Reports suggest Rodgers is looking at Luis Muriel, the Udinese forward as the man Liverpool could add to their ranks next season. The 22 year old has four goals and one Ai??assist in league games so far. While these figures might not be as impressive, it has to be noted that Muriel was used eight times as a substitute as Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin has often preferred other options. Muriel has been tipped to do great things in the future. Udinese purchased the forward fromAi??DeportivoAi??Cali in 2010 but loaned him out the following season. Clearly then, Muriel looks like a player who would be a great addition to Liverpool. Someone who would bring in tremendous quality to the squad, add the much needed depth, giving breathing space to ‘SAS’ and also keep them on their toes. However, Liverpool will have a tough time luring him to the club as he would want to go to a place where he would get more game time and would be included in the starting line-up more often than not. Muriel has been linked to Liverpool in the summer as well. However, it was when Luis Suarez was almost certainly heading out. If Liverpool can’t keep Suarez next season, the stakes of Muriel coming to Liverpool would be very high. Without that, this transfer speculation looks almost very off the mark.
