According to reports in English media, Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin will prefer a move to Tottenham Hotspur over their rivals Arsenal FC.
Morgan Schneiderlinai??i??s future at Southampton has come under a lot of speculation this summer with both Arsenal and Tottenham being linked with a move for the Frenchman. Recent reports suggest that the midfielder would prefer a move to White Hart Lane due to the presence of former Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Morgan Schneiderlin joined Southampton in 2008 and immediately established himself in the starting eleven. The 24-year-old was a key member of the squad which won promotion back to the Premier League. Schneiderlin has produced some wonderful performances in the midfield for the Saints and is regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the league currently.
His consistency for Southampton has earned him a lot of admirers and a host of clubs have monitored his progress. This summer he has been linked with a move away from St Maryai??i??s Stadium with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur interested in signing him.
The Gunners are in the market for a new defensive midfielder as they look to continue their spending spree this summer. Arsenal have already been linked with Sami Khedira, Lars Bender and William Carvalho, along with Schneiderlin. But with Khedira unlikely to come, Schneiderlin looks to be their best option considering his age, price and Premier League experience. But they face competition from Tottenham Hotspur who are also looking to improve their midfield.
Recent reports suggest that Schneiderlin would prefer a move to Spurs, despite the lure of Champions League football of Arsenal, as he is keen to reunite with his former manager Mauricio Pochettino. This rumours will further fuel Tottenhamai??i??s ambition to land him, although it will be hard to convince Southampton to sell their prized asset as they have already lost a host of key players this summer. Spurs are believed to be lining up a A?16m bid for the French international, but Saints are expected to demand a much higher fee considering Schneiderlinai??i??s current contract runs till 2017.
