James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos have replaced Angel Di Maria and Xabi Alonso in the midfield for Real Madrid this season but they both are struggling to settle down at the moment. The trio of Modric, Kroos and James has failed to provide the cover to their struggling defence, the area which was covered extremely well by Xabi Alonso earlier, and that is the key reason behind Real Madridai??i??s interest in hard working Ramires. Interestingly, Carlo Ancelotti was the manager when Chelsea signed Ramires in 2010.
The Real Madrid management feels that an offer of 25 million euros would be sufficient to lure the Chelsea management to sale the player but Jose Mourinho will play a key role in deciding the future of Ramires.
The Chelsea boss considers Ramires as a key component of his squad and is unlikely to grant the sale, at least until he gets a quality replacement.
Another factor which is likely to decide the future of this transfer of Ramires is the injury status and contract situation of Sami Khedira. The German midfielder has spent majority of last 16 months on the dressing table and this has forced Real Madrid management to look elsewhere.
The contract of Khedira with Real Madrid runs only until 30th June 2014 and no progress has been made over the extension of the same so far. Reports coming from Spain have claimed that the Real Madrid management has decided to wait until he completely recovers from the injury to open new contract talks.
