Manchester United target Tony Kroos dealt David Moyes a severe blow after making it clear that he belongs to Bayern Munich.
Speaking after the Champions League draw against Manchester United in the first leg, Bayern Munichai??i??s midfielder complimented the Old Trafford but added that he belonged to the Bavarian giants.
“It is a beautiful stadium. But I belong to Bayern Munich and that’s good.”
The German midfielder has long been linked with a move to Manchester United and it was reported that he figures high on David Moyesai??i?? shopping list this summer. In urgent need of over-hauling his ailing midfield, it seems Moyes was targeting to bring Tony Kroos to England who had reportedly fallen out with Bayern Munich over his contract negotiations.
Kroos was reported to have demanded parity with the likes of Ribery and Lahm in his new contract, one that was refused by the club officials and hence it was suggested that he might move to Manchester United in the summer this year. Sources close to the player also suggested that Tony Kroos was interested in moving to United however Bayern Munich seemed intent on tying the young midfielder with the club for his near future.
Club Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge himself admitted that though he wanted the midfielder to extend his contract with the German Champions, nothing could be said about Kroosai??i?? future.
“[Kroos] will certainly play at Bayern next year. What’s beyond that, I don’t know.”
His current contact runs till 2015 and the talented midfielder is reported to have said that he will take a call regarding his future only after the World Cup. The midfielder has been repeatedly asked by Pep Guardiola and former manager Jupp Heynckes to stay at Munich where he looks set for a flourishing career. Heynckes even went on to say that Tony Kroos has all the makings of becoming the next captain at Allianz Arena and that it would be a mistake to move to Manchester United who seem to be on a downward spiral under David Moyes.
Tony Kroos was integral in Bayern Munichai??i??s performance at Old Trafford on Tuesday and David Moyes must be licking his lips at the prospect of signing such a talented midfielder. In desperate need of a central midfielder, David Moyes even went to personally scout Kroos and met with his representatives over a possible transfer this summer.
However the recent comments are sure to disappoint David Moyes who was hoping to sign the German international. But summer is a long way off and things might change in the coming months and one can surely say that the Tony Kroos saga is one that is far from over. His tantrums might just be a ploy to get a better contract at Bayern Munich as surely the midfielder is not tempted to give up a Bayern Munich side managed by Guardiola to play under Moyesai??i?? faltering United. Or maybe a highly lucrative deal might tempt the German midfielder to test new waters. Only time will tell.
