Strootman has had an impressive spell at Roma after making the switch from PSV Eindhoven in 2013 for a hefty fee ofAi??ai??i??16.5m. He was a key figure in his side’s resurgent run in the league under Rudi Garcia. Former Manchester United manager David Moyes too had identified him as a potential signing last season but a move failed to materialise. United however seem to have rekindled their interest in the 24-year old as their current manager Louis Van Gaal has worked with Strootman previously in the Dutch national setup.
Manchester United were looking to strengthen their Ai??midfield in the summer and managed to sign Daley Blind. However, his injury has left them with a potential problem. With Micheal Carrick entering the end of his career, it’s imperative that United find a long term replacement, and Strootman could be that player.
Strootman recently returned from a cruciate ligament injury that had ruled him out for more than eight months. He missed the World Cup in that period too. The former PSV man played 54 minutes in Roma’s 2-2 draw against Sassuolo in their last league game and remained on the bench in their defeat to Manchester City.
