Manchester United manager David Moyes has hailed the impact of Juan Mata and Shinji Kagawa as they defeated Newcastle United 0-4 at St Jamesai??i?? Park.
Juan Mata havenai??i??t really set the world on fire since joining Manchester United from Chelsea this season, but the Spaniard produced his best against Newcastle United yesterday to once again prove his potential and what an important player he will become for the Red Devils. Mata scored the opener from a delightful free-kick as he placed the ball into the top corner of the net, beyond the reach of Robert Elliot.
At the start of the second half Mata doubled Unitedai??i??s lead with another well taken goal after he was set up by Javier Hernandez. The Mexican international added a third in the 64th minute of the match, while Adnan Januzaj scored the fourth to provide the icing on the cake. Mata produced a lovely back heel pass to set up Januzaj for the goal. As poor Newcastle United were on the day, Manchester United produced one of their better performances this season in the match yesterday ai??i?? a perfect build-up for the upcoming match against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
David Moyes was delighted with the ai???perfect ai??? performance by his side, although he felt they could have done better in the first half of the match.
“It was a perfect performance in the Premier League, which is most important.
“We didn’t start the game as well as I’d have liked but after the first 20 or 30 minutes we got to grips with it and there were some really good performances.” ai??i?? The Manchester United manager said.
Moyes also reserved special praise for Juan Mata and Shinji Kagawa, while expressing his delight about the clean sheet as well.
“I think he has been terrific. I also bought him for his goals, and in the first five or six games he didn’t score, but his two goals today and his assist, he has made a big contribution. He has made us better.
“I thought Shinji Kagawa was very good, and Darren Fletcher in midfield, and there were some really good performances.
“It was a great team performance. We had to defend well and the goalkeeper made two or three great saves, and I am really pleased with the result.” ai??i?? Moyes added.
Javier Hernandez, who managed a rare start in this game due to the absence of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, produced a good performance as well and David Moyes stressed on how much he values him as a player in the squad.
“He is a player we value a lot and he makes great contributions to the team, whether that is coming off the bench or starting.
“He is a talented footballer and his stats are up there with the best of them.” ai??i?? He explained.
When Moyes was asked about when the decision regarding Wayne Rooney availability for the match against Bayern Munich will be decided, he answered: “I think probably eight o’clock on Wednesday night. That will be the timescale because he is a massive player for us and we’ll try and get him back.”
