Liverpool FC have completed the signing of Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid. The Spaniard has been signed on a two-year loan deal, with an option to buy.
Javier Manquillo became Liverpoolai??i??s seventh signing of the season as the 20-year-old completed his move to Anfield on a two-year loan deal from Atletico Madrid. The Merseyside clubAi?? also have the option to make the move permanent after the first year.
Manquillo progressed through the youth ranks at Atletico Madrid and made his debut for the first team in 2011. But the right has had limited opportunities at Atletico since then and last season he made only three appearances in the league with experienced right back Juanfran being preferred over him.
But the Spanish U-20 international is highly rated in this nation and has made gradual progress through Spainai??i??s youth system. He faced an uncertain future at Atletico though, as he looked to gain regular first team action. A host of clubs were monitoring his situation and both Arsenal and Liverpool were linked with him.
The Gunners eventually pulled off the race and signed Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers, but Liverpool maintained their interest as Brendan Rodgers saw him as the long-term replacement of Glenn Johnson, who has been inconsistent with his performances.
