Liverpool have completed the signing of Alberto Moreno and have formally announced the arrival of their new acquisition.
The Spaniard becomes Liverpool’s 8th signing of the summer as he sealed the formalities of his A?12mAi??transfer. The club had already announced the agreement of a deal ‘in principle’.
Liverpool had been chasing Moreno all summer long and had made two attempts before they succeeded in their third try. The 22 year old helped Sevilla win the Europa League and finish the league in the 5th place last season.
Moreno was pleased at joining the Merseyside club and claimed that he had spoken to other Spaniards who represented the Reds in the past.
“In my view, Liverpool are the best club in England and I couldn’t waste an opportunity to come and play for them”, said Liverpool’s new summer recruit
“I spoke with Xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina and Alvaro Arbeloa and they told me this is a spectacular club whose fans follow it in a very special way.Ai??They all told me I can grow a lot here as a footballer as this is a massive club. I’m very happy to be joining a club as big as Liverpool. I hope to give my best and do all I can to help.”
When asked about what he aims at with Liverpool, he replied, “My biggest dream is to win a lot of trophies with Liverpool. I believe we have a good squad this year, which is very young and keen to win and succeed. I believe we can achieve beautiful things together here.”
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers had Moreno as his number one defensive target all summer long. He was obviously pleased with his arrival and said, “Alberto is a player with huge potential, but importantly he is also ready to come in and contribute straight away.Ai??He is quick, strong and serves the ball really well.Ai??We have monitored him in Spain for some time and every time I have seen him I have been greatly impressed.Ai??What is also important is that he is hungry to improve and recognises it is vital to keep learning.”
Moreno will in all probability be Liverpool’s first choice left back now but the Spaniard will not debut for his new club tomorrow against Southampton as he was not registered in time to be eligible for the opener against Southampton.
