Arsenal FC winger Lukas Podolski Has committed his long term future to the London club as he plans establish himself in the first team.
Despite making nearly seventy appearances in all competitions for the Gunners since joining them in 2012, Lukas Podolski is yet to grab a permanent role in the side. The German international once again had a mixed season as he made only 14 starts in the league for Arsenal. He started the campaign slowly as he faced a lot of fitness concerns, but showed some good goal scoring form towards the end as he finished with eight goals in the league.
Podolski arrived at the club with lot of expectations behind him, but he hasnai??i??t produced his best consistently enough, which is why his future remains under a lot of speculations. Initially reports suggested that Arsenal could use him in a swap deal with Schalke in order to sign their target Julian Draxler, but those rumours have cooled down recently as Arsene Wengerai??i??s priority has shifted to a new striker and a holding midfielder.
The German international has once again reinstated his desire to remain at the club and is adamant that joining the London club was the right move in his career.
“As things stand today, I am an Arsenal player (and) it won’t change.
“Going to London was the right step. I had the chance to go to a big club and to play in the strongest league in the world.
“I am happy in the city, in the league, in the club. Those two years have been outstanding for me.” ai??i?? The Arsenal forward said.
The former Bayern Munich player also insisted that he would have had a far better season personally, if he could have remained fit through the entire campaign ai??i?? although he remains satisfied with his contribution.
“If my bad injury hadn’t stopped me for almost five months, it would have been a better season again.
“Nevertheless, I am satisfied. In the end, I was a regular starter, scored eight goals and had four assists in the league. It’s nothing to sneeze at.” ai??i?? Podolski added.
He was part of the Arsenal side that lifted the FA Cup trophy earlier this month as they ended their long wait for a title. Podolski expressed his delight at having contributed towards the clubai??i??s success, but insisted that titles are not his only parameters to measure success.
“I am not someone that reduces himself only to the titles he won.
“Lukas Podoslki doesn’t change because he won a title but, of course, a title is something awesome – even more if it’s in a foreign country and in such an important competition.
“Especially from the aspect that Arsenal hadn’t won anything for nine years, this success was something special.” ai??i?? He said in an interview.
