Brazilian midfielder Paulinho has completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur, the player has announced.
The 24-year-old has been courted by a lot big clubs across Europe, with Inter and Shakhtar Donetsk being linked with him. But Tottenham were always considered to be the favourites to land him, ahead of other competitors. Reports suggested that the deal was already in place as Spurs have met the release-clause in his contract and the club was waiting for the end of Confederations Cup in order to complete the formalities.
Paulinho has now confirmed his move to Spurs and has also revealed that Inter didnai??i??t make an offer despite their interest.
“The other interest we got was of Inter Milan, but the only offer came from Tottenham.
“The proposal came, we sat down, analysed it and decided. It was a big decision to go to a big club. There comes a certain point when you need new challenges.” ai??i?? The Brazilian told the press.
The 24-year-old also thanked the fans and the club, of which he has been a part of since 2010, for everything they have done for him. He has also assured them that he will one day return to the Brazilian club in the future.
“What I have to say to Corinthians fans, board and staff is ‘see you soon’ – I will be back in no time, due to everything they have done for me.
“My individual titles are all thanks to the club, Corinthians will be in my heart for the rest of my life.” ai??i?? he added.
Roberto de Andrade, Corinthians football director, has also thanked Paulinho for his contribution towards the clubai??i??s success. He also feels that this is perhaps the right opportunity for Paulinho to gather new experience and face new challenges in his career.

It will be interesting to see whom Paulinho replaces in the Tottenham starting lineup. He largely plays in a box-to-box role, as he is good both defensively and offensively ai??i?? currently the job Dembele does for Spurs. But he is certainly a major coup for the London side and as he has shown against Spain in the final, he can compete and hold his own against the best in the world.
