Despite not having Antonio Conte on the bench for most of the first half of current season Juventus has performed up to the expectations and have built up a comfortable lead at the top of Serie A table. Barring the twin defeats against the Milan clubs the Bianconeri has been reasonably consistent though slightly unimaginative at times. The two times European champions have also performed admirably in Champions League and topped the group ahead of Shaktar Donetsk and Chelsea, something very few expected after a two year hiatus from Europeai??i??s top competition. Juventus donai??i??t necessarily need heavy spending in winter window. They have more than a reasonably strong squad for the league though the front-line will need some bolstering should Juventus want to challenge for a long UCL campaign.
Federico Peluso ai??i?? Adding More Depth
The first transfer move for the Old Lady has come pretty early with Atalanta left-back Federico Peluso signing few days back. The deal is a customary loan with option to buy, a steady pattern in Giuseppe Marotta era. Juventus has reportedly paid half a million Euros for the loan deal but some sources suggest the club has an obligation to buy Peluso in summer, for an amount between 4 and 4.5 million Euros.
The former Lazio Academy player will turn 29 on 20th of this month and is hardly a marquee signing. Starting his senior career in the historic Pro Vercelli club, Peluso has spent most of his career in lower divisions of Italy but has hit his peak form in Atalanta in past one season. He was one of the most consistent performers for the Nerazzurri as they successfully fought over a point penalty to ensure Serie A survival. He can operate as a left-back as well as a left wing-back, and will therefore fit into both 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 systems. Not the most talented player in Juventus squad, Peluso is a hard worker and fits most of the requirements of Antonio Conte.
This season Kwadwo Asamoah has been used mostly as a left wing-back, despite excelling as a central midfielder in Udinese. The industrious Ghanaian started off the season wonderfully, scoring in the Super Coppa Italia as well as assisting numerous goals. In past couple of months Asamoahai??i??s offensive output has somewhat decreased. He lacks the abilities of a natural wing-back and is an especially poor crosser. However, he does provide reliability and defensive solidity in the wings and therefore remains a regular choice under Conte. ai???Kojoai??? as he is nicknamed will be missing from action for over a month due to Africa Cup of Nations. In absence of Asamoah Conte had two options for a left-back ai??i?? Paolo De Ceglie and Giorgio Chiellini, who cannot function as a wing-back and is out injured for a month or more. Under these circumstances it would have been risky to depend on the inconsistent De Ceglie, a Juventus academy graduate and therefore Peluso is a good depth signing and must not be judged based on his calamitous debut against Sampdoria.

Another defender who has been heavily linked with Juventus is past couple of weeks is highly rated Brazilian youngster Doria. The Botofago player has ability to play in central of defence as well as the left-side and Juventus have to cough up 5 million Euros or more to secure his signature. Nothing has been officially confirmed till now about Doriaai??i??s transfer.
Two more names that have also floated up recently are Salvatore Bochetti and Genoa defender Andreas Granqvist. However, at this point of time it is unlikely that any of them will sign for Juventus.
Forward Line ai??i?? Drogba, Llorenteai??i??Jovetic?
No transfer window will be complete without Juventus being linked to a ai???top strikerai???. For past four windows Beppe Marottaai??i??s inability to land a big name striker has caused frustration to Juventus fans time and again. Juveai??i??s frontline is good enough to see the club through Serie A but for Europe they need more clinical finishers.
The strongest link so far has been Fernando Llorente. The Spanish strikerai??i??s contract with Athletic Bilbao expires in summer and he can move to Turin as a free agent. Some sources have suggested that he will be joining Juventus for a salary of 4.5 million Euros. Athletic Bilbaoai??i??s official site have confirmed that Juventus have began negotiations for his signature but there has not been any more development after that.
Llorente, if he joins, will come in summer but Juventus might invest in winter as well for the UCL campaign. Didier Drogbaai??i??s Chinese sojourn didnai??i??t go well and his agent has mentioned multiple times that he might make a switch to Serie A. 
David Villa is reportedly unsettled in Barcelona but he is another player whose salary demands can act as a deterrent. Stevan Jovetic is being linked again with Juventus. The Montenegrin has a long contract with Fiorentina but has not ruled out moving to a different club in near future. Violaai??i??s signing of Giuseppe Rossi can be another indication of the club preparing itself to lose Jovetic. With Fiorentina in strong contention for a top-3 finish it is unlikely that they will part with Jovetic in winter. Plus, given the bitter episodes that the two clubs have underwent in past 20 years, from Roberto Baggio to Berbatov, Juventus will have to cough up a big amount to lure Jovetic from Florence. Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo has also been linked with Juventus since last summer.
If Juventus fail to sign an experienced striker in winter it is likely that the club will bring back either one of the two exciting prospects ai??i?? Ciro Immobile and Manolo Gabbiadini, back from their loan stints.
As it stands now, Juventus is not likely to make big changes in the current squad in winter transfer window.
