Newcastle United have rejected an opening bid from Arsenal FC for midfielder Yohan Cabaye, while the Gunners are also keen on Juventus youngster Paul Pogba.
Arsenal are in a state of crisis now. After a disappointing summer, where initially the board insisted that the club will finally spend and compete with the big boys in the transfer market, Arsenal lost their opening match at the Emirates to Aston Villa. There are question marks over whether Cabaye is the type of midfielder Arsenal require at the moment. The Gunnersai??i?? biggest problem at the moment is the fact that they donai??i??t have a replacement for Mikel Arteta. Cabaye is unlikely to prosper in that role for Arsenal as he is better in the attacking half than in the defensive half. Reports from Italy also suggest that Arsene Wenger is also interested in former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba. Arsenal are believed to be preparing an opening bid for the youngster, although it seems highly unlikely that Juventus would entertain any bid for him. Antonio Conte rates him highly and sees him as an integral figure in the squad for the future. Pogba has already impressed in his debut season for the Italian champions and also captained the France U20 side to a World Cup win this summer. He would definitely add a lot of steel to the Arsenal midfield, but for the Gunners need to make a move for a more realistic target.
There are also talks about Arsenal re-signing Flamini, who is currently training with the Arsenal squad, although he is no longer same player who left the club for AC Milan.
