Alejandro Garnacho could contemplate leaving Aston Villa if his standing in the team does not improve, with a complicated situation likely to develop if he decides to move on.
According to a report by Football Insider, Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Aston Villa is already in doubt because of his lack of minutes under Unai Emery. If the Argentine winger chooses to seek a new challenge, it could become complicated because of the agreement between Chelsea and Villa.
Garnacho’s time at Aston Villa has already attracted plenty of attention, with suggestions that he could actively look to leave before the next window. The Madrid-born winger’s lack of game time is a major concern, as he has featured in only three substitute appearances, totalling 31 minutes.
The youngster has not started in the cup competitions or the Champions League, and he was also an unused substitute in each of Aston Villa’s last two league matches. That creates a difficult situation for both Villa and Chelsea, because his loan deal does not include a break clause, which would matter if he tried to force a move before January.

Recent reports have pointed to the possibility of Garnacho reconsidering his future at the club. There have also been links with La Liga sides, which could suit him if he does decide that a change of scenery is needed.
Another report suggested Emery believes Garnacho needs time to adapt to his new surroundings, and that is likely the main reason for his limited minutes so far. If the player decides that a fresh challenge is the best option, the lack of a break clause means Chelsea and Aston Villa would need to reach an agreement before anything can happen.
The Villans could also entertain offers above the £43 million buy obligation they have with Chelsea, which would allow them to sell him on to another club after triggering the clause. In other words, Garnacho could still leave Birmingham, but only after the issue between the two clubs is resolved.
Chelsea are not planning to bring the Argentine winger back into their first-team setup, which means they are content to let him stay at Aston Villa for now. That leaves the West Midlands club in control of the next step, and any exit would probably begin with the club deciding whether to activate the buy obligation in the winger’s deal.
