Serie A outfit Fiorentina are considering making a late move to sign Everton striker Beto, amidst uncertainty around Moise Kean’s future.
Fiorentina are considering a late move for Everton striker Beto, according to Sky Sports, as they prepare for the potential departure of Moise Kean in the final phase of the transfer window.
The Serie A club have identified Beto as one of their options should Kean depart the club. Como are pursuing the Italian forward and have already seen one offer rejected, but the situation has prompted Fiorentina to begin planning for a potential replacement.
Beto is a potential replacement, particularly with the Toffees also open to sanctioning his departure. The 28-year-old, who joined them in the summer of 2023 for €30 million from Udinese, endured another inconsistent campaign at the Merseyside club last season.
He featured in 40 matches across competitions but accumulated fewer than 1,800 minutes, serving primarily as a rotation option. Nevertheless, he managed 10 goals and remains a proven goalscoring threat at the highest level.
Everton’s willingness to consider his departure is also linked to their own plans in the final stages of the window. David Moyes’s side are interested in bringing in another striker, with Liam Delap among the names on their radar.
Should the Merseyside club succeed in adding another forward, Beto’s position in the squad could become even more uncertain, encouraging the Toffees to consider offers for the 28-year-old striker, particularly if Fiorentina formalise their interest.
Fiorentina could look to replace Kean with Beto
Meanwhile, the Serie A outfit are reluctant to lose Kean after the striker’s impressive contribution, but Como’s continued pursuit means they need to be prepared for every scenario. Kean has emerged as an important figure for the Italian club, and replacing his goals would be difficult.
However, Beto’s physical presence and his abilities as a traditional number nine could make him a logical alternative. The Guinea-Bissau international has made 112 appearances for the Toffees, scoring 25 goals. Although he has struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter in England, his goalscoring record suggests there is still plenty of value in his profile.
A move to Fiorentina could also provide Beto with an opportunity to return to Serie A, where he previously enjoyed productive spells with Udinese. The familiarity with Italian football could make the transition relatively straightforward if a deal materialises.
Fiorentina have several alternatives in mind, meaning Beto is not their only option. However, with the deadline approaching and uncertainty surrounding Kean’s future, the Serie A club could make a late move for the Everton striker.
