Chelsea, Everton, and Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing 22-year-old Italian youth international Issa Doumbia from Serie B club Venezia this summer.
A report by TEAMtalk has revealed that Chelsea, Everton, and Newcastle United are interested in Venezia midfielder Issa Doumbia. The three Premier League clubs are eager to bolster their first-team squads by signing a central midfielder in the upcoming transfer window. They have “all watched him in recent months and are showing interest” in a summer move.
Issa Doumbia is the latest promising prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. Born in Treviglio, the youngster spent his formative years in Italy, starting his youth career at US Ciserano before graduating from the academy at US Albino Leffe. However, the 22-year-old has risen in prominence during his spell with Venezia.
The Italian midfielder has shown the potential to affect outcomes in the final third, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 35 appearances across all competitions thus far in the 2025/26 season. Meanwhile, Doumbia’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Chelsea, Everton, and Newcastle United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Chelsea may dip into the market for a midfielder in the summer transfer window, as Enzo Fernandez faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge amid his links with Real Madrid. Additionally, Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo have struggled with fitness issues this season. So, Doumbia is a viable target for Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Everton’s interest in Issa Doumbia is understandable. With Idrissa Gueye in the twilight of his career, the Toffees need a player who can become James Garner’s long-term partner in the middle of the park. Several candidates, including Ao Tanaka, have thus emerged on Everton’s wishlist, with Doumbia also a viable target.
As for Newcastle United, the Magpies are scouring the market for a versatile midfielder, as widespread reports have linked Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, and Joelinton with moves away from St. James’ Park. Additionally, Joe Willock may call time on his frustrating spell with Newcastle United this summer.
Apart from Everton, Chelsea, and Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Napoli are also keen on signing the 22-year-old Italian midfielder after scouting him in Serie B action. So, a move to a top-flight club may be on the cards for Doumbia in the coming months.
