Aston Villa, Newcastle United set to run rule over Gabriel Sara

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are all set to scout Galatasaray midfield mainstay Gabriel Sara in their derby against Fenerbahce.

Gabriel Sara has made quite a name for himself with his consistent performances for Galatasaray in recent years. The Brazilian midfielder finds himself on the wishlist of quite a few top clubs.

According to a report from Sporx, two Premier League clubs will be keeping a close eye on him this week. Newcastle United and Aston Villa are both interested in acquiring his services, and their scouts will be present in the stands of Rams Park on 26th April to watch him in action against Fenerbahce in the derby.

Gabriel Sara’s performances in that fixture could have a big say on whether they push for his signature or not. On the back of his impressive work at Norwich City in the English second division, the Turkish giants signed Sara in the summer of 2024. He has since gone on to establish himself as an integral part of their first team.

So far, the South American midfielder has featured in 87 matches for the Super Lig club, and he has contributed towards 23 goals. While he prefers playing as a central midfielder, he can take up any role in midfield. Sara has been involved in 42 games this term and has contributed towards 11 goals.

Not only can he control the tempo of a game, but the 26-year-old is also great going forward. His impressive performances have helped him break into the Brazilian national team, and he is in contention for the World Cup squad as well.

Sara could be heading to the Premier League

While his contract at the Turkish club runs until the summer of 2029, Newcastle United and Aston Villa could make moves to secure his services this summer. Amidst uncertainty around Sandro Tonali’s future, the Magpies are looking at Sara as an ideal option to reinforce their midfield.

Meanwhile, Unai Emery seeks more quality in the centre of the park. Sara’s versatility could do wonders for Aston Villa, who look set to part ways with Ross Barkley this summer. While both clubs are ready to scout him further this week, securing his services won’t be that easy.

Galatasaray is reluctant to sell the 26-year-old, who is valued at €22 million. With his contract running until 2029, they are in complete control of his future and will not accept any offers below the €30 million mark.
