AS Roma striker Artem Dovbyk will not join Everton or West Ham United, as the 28-year-old Ukrainian striker’s talks with those clubs have reportedly cooled.
According to a report by Italian outlet Il Messaggero, Everton and West Ham United have been interested in Artem Dovbyk. The two Premier League clubs were eager to bolster their offensive units by signing a striker in the winter transfer window. So, the 28-year-old AS Roma centre-forward emerged as a target for them.
However, the latest report has revealed that Everton and West Ham United have moved on from the former Girona striker. While West Ham signed Valentin Castellanos and Pablo earlier this year, Everton abandoned the move after discussing a swap deal involving Beto.
How has Artem Dovbyk fared in Serie A?
Artem Dovbyk has seen his stock plummet since joining AS Roma from Girona in August 2024. The 28-year-old was among the most underrated strikers in the world when he moved to Stadio Olimpico after guiding Girona to shock UEFA Champions League qualification. However, the move has been ill-advised, as the player has inconsistent in the last 18 months.
The Ukrainian international has struggled in his second season with AS Roma, managing only 625 minutes of game time across 17 appearances in all competitions thus far while scoring three goals and providing two assists. Dovbyk now faces an uncertain future at the Serie A club, as he is not a regular in the final third. Recent reports linked him with Everton and West Ham United.
What next for Dovbyk?
Artem Dovbyk has been on Everton’s wishlist for a long time. The continued interest made sense, as Beto has not been consistent enough since arriving from Udinese. So, Everton should have signed a centre-forward this month, with Dovbyk emerging as a viable target.
As for West Ham United, Niclas Fullkrug has completed a loan move to AC Milan, while Callum Wilson may leave the East London club as a free agent soon. However, West Ham will not pursue Dovbyk’s signature, as they have signed Pablo and Valentin Castellanos in the winter transfer window.
Meanwhile, Everton’s talks to sign Dovbyk have also cooled, and the latest report has revealed that “negotiations over an exit are now virtually impossible” in the final weeks of the winter transfer window. So, while the 28-year-old Ukrainian international was keen on moving to the Premier League, a deal will not materialise.
