Atletico Madrid considering loan move for Omar Marmoush

La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing 26-year-old Egyptian international Omar Marmoush on loan from Manchester City in January.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Omar Marmoush is the subject of interest from Atletico Madrid. The Spanish giants are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the winter transfer window. So, the 26-year-old Manchester City forward has emerged as a target for Los Rojiblancos.

The Colchoneros are eager to sign the Cairo-born attacker on loan from Manchester City in the winter transfer window. Meanwhile, a deal may materialise in the coming weeks, as the Premier League title hopefuls are pursuing Antoine Semenyo’s signature.

How has Omar Marmoush fared at Manchester City?

Omar Marmoush has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth €75 million in January 2025. The 26-year-old spent his formative years in his homeland but rose in prominence during his time in the Bundesliga after a productive spell with Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, after a solid second half of the 2024/25 season, Marmoush has struggled this term, managing only 389 minutes of game time in 15 appearances across all competitions thus far. Meanwhile, the Egyptian attacker’s stock remains high, with Atletico Madrid among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the winter transfer window.

La Liga move on the horizon?

Atletico Madrid’s interest in Omar Marmoush is understandable. The Colchoneros are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the winter transfer window, as Diego Simeone wants more firepower in the final third. With Alexander Sorloth facing an uncertain future at Estadio Metropolitano, Atletico Madrid must sign a replacement.

Additionally, Antoine Griezmann’s long-term future is uncertain. Several candidates, including Iliman Ndiaye, have thus emerged on Atletico Madrid’s radar, with Marmoush also a viable target. Los Rojiblancos will attempt to sign the former Eintracht Frankfurt attacker on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 season when the winter transfer window opens.

However, it is unclear if Manchester City will be open to sanctioning a loan exit for Marmoush in the winter transfer window. Nevertheless, with the Citizens chasing Antoine Semenyo’s signature, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 26-year-old Egyptian international.
