Fulham hit roadblock in Ricardo Pepi chase

Fulham reportedly wanted to sign 22-year-old American striker Ricardo Pepi, who will remain at PSV Eindhoven beyond the summer transfer window.

According to an update by reputed Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink, Ricardo Pepi is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 22-year-old PSV Eindhoven centre-forward has been a target for the West London outfit.

However, the Eredivisie champions do not want to part ways with the American striker, even though the Cottagers have been ready to fork out a significant sum to secure his services. A report by French outlet Foot Mercato has suggested that Fulham submitted a bid worth €30 million, with PSV Eindhoven turning it down.

Ricardo Pepi and his Dutch adventure

Ricardo Pepi has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Eredivisie since joining PSV Eindhoven from FC Augsburg in July 2023. The 22-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last two years, having been productive in the final third for the Dutch champions.

The USMNT international contributed to 21 goals in only 1,132 minutes of game time across 29 appearances in all competitions for PSV Eindhoven in the 2024/25 season, finding the back of the net 18 times and providing three assists. Meanwhile, Pepi’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including Fulham.

London calling? Not quite

Fulham’s interest in Ricardo Pepi is understandable. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a striker after parting ways with Carlos Vinicius this summer. Meanwhile, Raul Jimenez is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career. So, Rodrigo Muniz is the only long-term option for Marco Silva.

However, the Brazilian striker is a target for several Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United. So, Fulham should sign a striker in the summer transfer window and kick-start a spending drive, having barely brought in any players thus far. The West London club even submitted a bid worth €30 million to sign the American striker from PSV Eindhoven.

However, the Eredivisie champions have rejected Fulham’s proposal worth €30 million, as they do not want to part ways with Pepi in the summer transfer window. So, the Cottagers must look elsewhere for a striker, with the 22-year-old USMNT international not going anywhere.
