Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool told to pay €60 million to sign Malick Fofana

Beleaguered French club Lyon will demand around €60 million to part ways with 20-year-old Belgian winger Malick Fofana amid his links with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

According to a report by The Independent, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool are keen on signing Malick Fofana from Lyon in the summer transfer window. The Belgian international faces an uncertain future at the beleaguered French giants after their relegation from Ligue 1. Meanwhile, Les Gones will demand around €60 million to part ways with the highly-rated winger.

Malick Fofana and his French journey so far

Malick Fofana has made considerable progress since joining Lyon from KAA Gent in January 2024. The Aalst native spent his formative years in Belgium and graduated from the youth division at KAA Gent. However, he has risen in prominence since moving to France, having established himself as one of the most promising young wingers in Ligue 1.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a solid 2024/25 campaign, contributing to 17 goals in only 2,280 minutes of game time across 41 appearances in all competitions by finding the back of the net 11 times and providing six assists. Meanwhile, Fofana’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

A man in demand

The Belgian international has been on Arsenal’s radar for several months. The Gunners are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a productive wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the highly-rated Lyon winger has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in Malick Fofana is perplexing, considering they have secured the agreement to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund. Nevertheless, the Blues are scouring the market for a productive wide attacker, with the Lyon winger an option worth considering.

As for Liverpool, Luis Diaz faces an uncertain future at Anfield amid his links with Barcelona and Saudi Pro League clubs. So, the Reds are combing the market for a wide attacker, with Fofana a viable target. Meanwhile, the former KAA Gent whizkid is also a target for Nottingham Forest.

Lyon will not let the 20-year-old Belgian international leave for a cut-price fee, and the troubled French club will demand €60 million to part ways with him. However, considering Les Gones’ distressed situation, it is unclear if any suitors will be ready to help them by paying €60 million to sign Fofana in the summer transfer window.
