Manchester City initiate contact with Andriy Lunin entourage

Bayern Munich and Manchester City are reportedly keen on signing 26-year-old Ukrainian international Andriy Lunin from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Bernabeu Digital, Andriy Lunin is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions are combing the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Ederson Moraes’s long-term future. So, the Real Madrid stopper has emerged as a target, with City contacting his entourage.

Andriy Lunin and his Real Madrid journey so far

Andriy Lunin has been a dependable performer since joining Real Madrid from Zorya Luhansk in July 2018. The shot-stopper has come leaps and bounds in the last seven years but has never been the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for Real Madrid apart from a major portion of the 2023/24 season when Thibaut Courtois was on the sidelines with a long-term injury.

Nevertheless, the 26-year-old has made his mark whenever he has lined up between the sticks for Real Madrid. Lunin has turned out over 50 times thus far for the reigning La Liga champions while keeping 20 clean sheets and conceding 70 goals.

However, Lunin faces an uncertain future heading into the summer transfer window as he mulls over embarking on a new adventure to find a stable footing at the club level. The Ukrainian international has no shortage of suitors vying for his signature, with Manchester City among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Andriy Lunin has been on Manchester City’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, considering Ederson Moraes faces an uncertain future at the Etihad heading into the summer transfer window. With Saudi Pro League clubs keen on prising him away from Manchester City, the Citizens need a replacement.

In addition, Stefan Ortega faces an uncertain future at the Etihad. So, Lunin has emerged as a viable target for Manchester City, with the Premier League champions contacting the Real Madrid goalkeeper’s entourage over a possible move in the summer transfer window.

Apart from Manchester City, Bayern Munich will also look to sign the 26-year-old Ukrainian international in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if Lunin leaves Real Madrid amid his links with Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
