Arsenal line up talks with Victor Osimhen over summer move

Arsenal will soon hold talks with the representatives of 26-year-old Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen over a possible move in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Victor Osimhen is the subject of interest from Arsenal. Chelsea and Manchester United are also keen on signing the Nigerian international in the summer transfer window, and he has a release clause of €75 million in his contract with Napoli. Meanwhile, the Gunners are planning discussions with the in-form striker’s representatives.

Victor Osimhen has been one of the best strikers in the world in the last few years. The African attacker was among the most promising prospects during his spells with VfL Wolfsburg and LOSC Lille. However, he exploded into a prolific centre-forward after joining Napoli nearly half a decade ago.

The 26-year-old went from strength to strength during his spell with Napoli before the two parties burned the bridges last year. Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan in the summer transfer window, and he has contributed to 27 goals in 28 outings thus far this term, finding the back of the net 22 times and five assists. So, it is hardly surprising that the player’s stock in the market is high, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United among his prospective suitors.

While recent reports have claimed that Chelsea might prefer other striker targets over Osimhen, he remains a target for the West London club. The Blues are scouring the market for a centre-forward heading into the summer transfer window, with Enzo Maresca demanding more firepower. So, the Napoli outcast is a viable target for Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s interest in Victor Osimhen is understandable. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window amid Rasmus Hojlund’s struggles to remain productive in the final third. So, Osimhen is an option worth considering.

As for Arsenal, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have blown hot and cold in the final third, with neither player being a reliable contributor in front of the goal. So, Osimhen has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal, with the Gunners planning talks with his representatives.

Osimhen’s contract with Napoli has a release clause worth €75 million, and the three Premier League bigwigs should have the funds to afford a deal for the Nigerian international. It will be interesting to see how Arsenal’s talks with the 26-year-old progress amid his links with Chelsea and Manchester United.
