Fulham will compete with several clubs to sign 23-year-old versatile Austrian attacker Patrick Wimmer from Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by German outlet BILD, Patrick Wimmer is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window. So, the 23-year-old VfL Wolfsburg forward has emerged as a target for the West London outfit, although they will face stiff competition from several well-known clubs for his signature.
Who is Patrick Wimmer?
Patrick Wimmer has been a solid performer since joining VfL Wolfsburg from Arminia Bielefeld in July 2022. A native of Tulln, he spent his formative years in Austria and graduated from the youth division at SC Sitzenberg. However, the youngster rose in prominence after moving to Germany a few years ago.
The 23-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last two and a half years, although his productivity needs improvement. Nevertheless, Wimmer has a decent record of four goals and four assists in 24 appearances across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Wimmer’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. AC Milan, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Leicester City are keen on signing the Austrian international. However, Fulham will aim to beat the competition to his signature in the summer transfer window.
London calling?
Patrick Wimmer has been on Fulham’s radar for a long time. The continued interest in the VfL Wolfsburg forward is understandable, considering Reiss Nelson might not complete a permanent move in the summer transfer window. In addition, Willian is in the twilight of his career, while Harry Wilson and Adama Traore have blown hot and cold.
So, Fulham can do with a new forward, with Wimmer emerging as a viable target. The Austrian international’s ability to play on both flanks makes him an appealing target for the West London club.
In addition, the report by BILD has claimed that it is “conceivable” for the 23-year-old versatile attacker to move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if Fulham can beat the competition to Wimmer’s signature in the summer transfer window.
