AC Milan line up summer move for Casemiro

Serie A giants AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing 33-year-old Brazilian midfielder Casemiro from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Casemiro is the subject of interest from AC Milan. The Serie A giants are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the struggling Manchester United star. So, the Manchester United midfielder has emerged as a target for the Rossoneri.

Casemiro and his Manchester United misery

Casemiro has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Manchester United from Real Madrid in a big-money deal in August 2022. The South American midfielder hit the ground running at Old Trafford, and he was instrumental in a memorable 2022/23 campaign for Manchester United.

However, the 33-year-old has blown hot and cold since then, with age catching up with him. The effects have meant that the veteran midfielder has been leggy and struggled to keep up with the game’s pace. Nevertheless, Manchester United’s injury woes this season have helped him rack up over 1,500 minutes of game time across 27 appearances in all competitions while scoring three goals.

However, the Brazilian midfielder’s struggles have compelled Manchester United to push for a summer exit. That said, recent reports have claimed that the former Real Madrid midfielder is increasingly likely to stay at Old Trafford beyond the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the player does not have a shortage of suitors pursuing him, with AC Milan among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

Serie A adventure beckons?

AC Milan’s interest in Casemiro is perplexing yet understandable. While the veteran midfielder is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career, the Serie A giants need a new midfielder in the summer transfer window. In addition, the Manchester United midfielder will bring a winning mentality to San Siro.

The Serie A giants have parted ways with Ismael Bennacer, while Tijjani Reijnders is a target for high-profile clubs like Manchester City. So, AC Milan can do with a new midfielder, with the struggling Manchester United star emerging as a target.

However, with Casemiro reportedly eager to honour his contract and remain at Manchester United for another season, it will be interesting to see if AC Milan can turn the 33-year-old Brazilian midfielder’s head.
