Chelsea relaxed on Cole Palmer future amid Liverpool links

The long-term future of Cole Palmer is not bothering Chelsea amid his emerging links with Liverpool, with the West London club relaxed on the situation.

According to a report by Fabrizio Romano on Give Me Sport, Chelsea will not worry about Cole Palmer and his long-term future at Stamford Bridge. The English international has not told the West London club that he wants to embark on a new adventure in the summer transfer window amid his emerging links with Liverpool.

Romano said, “Well look, at the moment Chelsea are really relaxed, as [Enzo] Maresca is mentioning in public. But also internally at the club, they are really relaxed about the situation of Cole Palmer. First of all, they remain optimistic on the opportunity to get this first place in the league, and to be able to play Champions League next season – so there is full focus on the pitch.”

“There is nothing in terms of Cole Palmer informing Chelsea about his desire to go. At the moment, Chelsea are really, really relaxed, as Maresca has said. The contract is very long and he’s a crucial player for them, so at the moment it’s completely, completely relaxed.”

The rise and rise of Cole Palmer

Cole Palmer has been one of the best players in the world since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in a big-money deal in September 2023. Pundits and fans alike raised eyebrows when the West London outfit coughed up a sizeable fee to secure his services. However, the Englishman has been a talismanic figure in the last 18 months.

While the 22-year-old has not been as productive as last season in the 2024/25 campaign thus far, he has still amassed 14 goals and six assists in 27 Premier League appearances. However, recent reports have suggested that Palmer might leave Chelsea if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. In addition, there have been some links with Liverpool.

Shock Chelsea exit on the cards?

Liverpool can do with a player like Cole Palmer amid uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah’s long-term future. The Egyptian international has yet to sign a new contract with the Merseyside outfit, even though it will seemingly be a blunder to part ways with him in the summer transfer window. Nevertheless, Palmer is the ideal candidate to fill Salah’s void at Liverpool FC.

However, the 22-year-old English international will unlikely leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window, with the West London outfit relaxed about his future. Recent reports have also linked Palmer with Paris Saint-Germain. However, the Englishman’s suitors should look elsewhere, with a departure from Chelsea not on the cards.
