Newcastle United prioritising summer move for Antoine Semenyo

Newcastle United have added Antoine Semenyo to their shortlist of attacking targets, as dealing with Bournemouth could prove challenging.

According to Football Insider, Antoine Semenyo is viewed as a priority target for Newcastle United ahead of the summer. The Magpies are eager to strengthen their wide attacking areas, with the Bournemouth star being one of the few Eddie Howe is considering, as they will face competition for the Ghanaian.

Newcastle United will hope to secure Champions League football at the end of the season, as their failure to do so will have a massive effect on their summer plans. Stars like Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes are waiting to see if they will play in the top-tier European competition, as there’s a chance they could leave without it.

The Magpies also have plans of their own to strengthen the squad with quality stars who might prefer a Champions League-playing club over those who are not part of the competition. Newcastle United are prioritising a new attacker on the right side of the front three, as Bryan Mbeumo is considered a top target.

Brentford are set to demand £50 million or more for the winger, as Newcastle United will face competition for the Cameroonian. The Magpies are eyeing another winger from a Premier League club as a potential alternative to Mbeumo, with Antoine Semenyo also considered a hugely important target for the summer.

Semenyo signed a new deal last summer, which ensures he is tied down until 2029, as Bournemouth will make it challenging for anyone to sign the Ghanaian. Hence, Newcastle United might have to make a compelling offer that suits the Cherries, as the attacker will cost a lot.

Newcastle United to face Antoine Semenyo competition

Newcastle United are not expected to be the only team to chase Semenyo, as there have been a few who are keeping close tabs. Arsenal are thought to be interested, while Manchester United are also keen to land the 25-year-old Premier League attacker.

Chelsea are also considering a big move for the 25-year-old, which makes Newcastle’s pursuit a big complex. However, should the Magpies secure Champions League football for next season, they could have a strong chance to beat the likes of Manchester United and probably even Chelsea in the race for Semenyo.
