Manchester United keen on Adam Wharton move

Manchester United are interested in exploring a move for Adam Wharton to replace Christian Eriksen ahead of the summer.

According to Caught Offside, Manchester United are reportedly interested in a move for Adam Wharton in the summer. The Red Devils might make some fundamental changes to their squad and bring in promising talents that help Ruben Amorim build a squad for the immediate future, with the Crystal Palace star seen as a potential replacement for veteran Christian Eriksen.

There are plenty of questions surrounding Manchester United’s plans for the summer window, as they clearly need multiple new faces to shape Ruben Amorim’s squad. The Portuguese manager likes to play in a specific way, and should the club back his ideas, they may be in for a big summer window.

One of the key areas for Manchester United to strengthen is their midfield, with the club currently struggling with their existing options. The club were open to offloading Christian Eriksen in January, but the Dane ended up staying at the club, as removing unwanted players might be a big job for Amorim when the season ends.

Manchester United have earmarked Adam Wharton as a player they would like to repalce Eriksen with. The Crystal Palace star has been a bright addition to Selhurst Park over a year ago, but this season, he has suffered from a groin injury that has limited his presence, although he has recently returned to action.

Wharton’s price tag will be detrimental to Manchester United’s pursuit, as they will have some financial constraints. However, they might be in a position to spend should they deem the midfield as a priority position to strengthen, as Amorim looks to get rid of first-team veterans Eriksen and Casemiro.

Manchester United to face Adam Wharton competition

Manchester United are not expected to have an easy path towards signing the Crystal Palace midfielder. Having been impressed since joining the club over a year ago, the England international has attracted the interest of other clubs, with Tottenham in the mix.

Meanwhile, Manchester United could rely on their ‘big club’ pull to secure the signing of players like Wharton, as they could still prove to be attractive for many of their targets. Bringing the midfielder will certainly improve their quality in the middle of the park, although any move will depend on the price tag of the rising star.
