Tottenham considering summer move for Adam Wharton

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old English international Adam Wharton from fellow London club Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Adam Wharton is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. So, the 21-year-old Crystal Palace whizkid has emerged as a target for the North London club.

The rapid rise of Adam Wharton

Adam Wharton has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024. A native of Blackburn, the Englishman spent his formative years in his hometown and graduated from the youth division at Blackburn Rovers.

The 21-year-old rose in prominence in the 2023/24 season, and Crystal Palace beat intense competition to secure his services 12 months ago. Wharton hit the ground running at Selhurst Park, and he has been a mainstay in the middle of the park for the South London club.

The English midfielder has turned out 27 times thus far for Crystal Palace while chipping in with four assists. Wharton’s exploits earned him his debut for England, and he made his senior bow for the Three Lions last year. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile Premier League clubs, including Tottenham.

Move across London on the horizon?

Adam Wharton has been on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar for a long time. The continued interest in the Crystal Palace whizkid is understandable, considering Ange Postecoglou is grooming a young team and setting it up for long-term success. So, several world-class prospects have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the last 18 months.

Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have already become regulars for Tottenham’s first team under Postecoglou, while other prospects should get their opportunities in the coming months. So, Wharton should be right at home at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if he arrives from Crystal Palace this summer.

However, signing the 21-year-old Englishman will not be straightforward, considering he is a target for other Premier League bigwigs, including Manchester United. In addition, Crystal Palace will likely demand a premium to part ways with the English international.
