Manchester City ready to pay €105 million to sign Florian Wirtz

Manchester City are ready to offer €105 million to lure Bayer Leverkusen into selling Florian Wirtz as they face competition for the German international.

According to Fichajes, Manchester City are ready to make a €105 million offer to sign Florian Wirtz in the summer. The German international is viewed as a top target by Pep Guardiola and as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne. However, the Premier League champions will face big competition from rivals, while Bayer Leverkusen will likely put up a fight to keep hold of the playmaker.

Florian Wirtz is having yet another season, which highlights how developed he is as a player. After being named the Bundesliga Player of the Season for the previous title-winning campaign, he has hit similar heights this time out. The 21-year-old has contributed to 27 goals this season in all competition and, unsurprisingly, has plenty of suitors lining up ahead of the summer.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are all in the mix, while Real Madrid are also one of the key suitors in this chase. Bayer Leverkusen know they will have to sell the player at one stage, although they are hoping to keep him for as long as possible at the club.

Reports are that Wirtz was ready to extend his stay until 2028, while his current contract expires in 2027. Should a renewal materialise, he might continue at the BayArena, although his immediate future could also be linked with that of Xabi Alonso.

Either way, there is a wider expectation with Wirtz to leave at some point, which could come in the summer or the next. Leverkusen are expecting a big fee to sell the Bundesliga winner, and there are a handful of clubs willing to pay what it takes, including Manchester City.

Manchester City ready big offer for Wirtz

Manchester City are one of the teams financially capable of putting the money on the table to sign the best oif players. They have Florian Wirtz in their sights as a big addition for their long-term future, as they also view him as a viable replacement for Kevin De Bruyne. Pep Guardiola’s side are willing to table a €105 million bid to test Leverkusen’s resolve and bring the attacking midfielder, although they do anticipate big competition.

They also have players like Charles De Ketelaere on their list of potential De Bruyne replacements, although a star like Wirtz is likely to be on top of their shortlist. It remains to be seen whether the €105 million offer might prove enough to prise Wirtz, who may have a much higher market value at the current moment.
