Tottenham seal agreement to sign Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny

Chelsea midfield prospect Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny is reportedly on the verge of completing a move across London to Tottenham Hotspur.

According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny has been the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The North London giants have secured an agreement to sign the 18-year-old midfield prospect from fellow London club Chelsea. The Lilywhites will present their official announcement on Tuesday morning.

Who is Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny?

Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny is the latest highly-rated prospect to rise in prominence at Chelsea. A native of Reading, the Englishman has spent his formative years thus far in his homeland. The youngster joined Chelsea at the under-8 level and has risen through the ranks at the West London club.

The 18-year-old is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also play as a holding midfielder. Even though the youngster is still a teenager, he established a foothold in Chelsea’s under-21 team, turning out 20 times while chipping in with three goals. However, the teenage prospect has played his final game for the West London club.

The English midfield prospect will move across London to move to Tottenham Hotspur, completing the academy exodus at the West London outfit in the winter transfer window. In addition, he will become the second youth player to move from Chelsea to Tottenham in the last three years after Jude Soonsup-Bell joined the Lilywhites in 2023.

Move across London beckons

Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny follows Harvey Vale, Somto Boniface, Caleb Wiley, and Zak Sturge out of the exit door at Chelsea. Vale joined Queens Park Rangers on deadline day, while Boniface moved to Ipswich Town. Meanwhile, Wiley and Sturge completed loan moves to Watford and Millwall, respectively.

As for Russell-Denny’s move to Tottenham, the 18-year-old Englishman will hope for a quick pathway to first-team football after trading London clubs in the winter transfer window. Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Lilywhites will formally announce the youngster’s move on Tuesday morning.

With the official announcement coming, the teenage prospect will hope he does not follow Jude Soonsup-Bell’s lead, with the former Chelsea whizkid currently playing in Spain’s second division. It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the English midfield prodigy.
