Bayern Munich demands scuppered Arsenal move for Mathys Tel

Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal during the winter transfer window before he joined Tottenham.

Mathys Tel has ended up signing for Tottenham Hotspur on a loan deal until the end of the 2024/25 season, and Arsenal will be disappointed to have missed out on him after chasing him until deadline day.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Arsenal were very keen on signing Mathys Tel. However, the demands from Bayer Munich led to the breakdown of the move. Apparently, Arsenal were unwilling to do a straight loan deal to sign the player on deadline day, and they wanted an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

However, the Bundesliga outfit where not keen on the structure of the deal. Bayern Munich eventually agreed to loan the French attacking sensation to Tottenham Hotspur with an option to buy.

It remains to be seen whether the 19-year-old can get his career back on track with regular football at Tottenham. The Frenchman is highly rated across Europe, and he is expected to develop into a world-class player with the right guidance.

The teenage attacker struggled for regular game time at Bayern Munich during the first half of the season, and he will be desperate to play more often now. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can provide him with the opportunities he needs.

Arsenal needed attacking reinforcements

It is no secret surprise that Arsenal were keen on signing Mathys Tel. They need more depth in the final third. The 19-year-old is capable of operating on both flanks, and he would have added goals and creativity to the side.

It will be interesting to see if the 19-year-old can adapt to English football quickly and hit the ground running in the Premier League. The youngster has the physicality and technical attributes to do well for Tottenham, and he could transform them in the attack.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are lacking in depth in the attacking unit and it will be interesting to see if they can cope with that and finish the season strongly. The Gunners are in the middle of a title race, and they will be hoping to go all the way.
