Tottenham agree deal to sign Axel Disasi, player wants Aston Villa move

Tottenham have found an agreement with Chelsea to loan Axel Disasi, although the player wants to seal Aston Villa move.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Axel Disasi situation has created a big problem for Chelsea as a big decision awaits the London side. Tottenham have seemingly agreed a deal with the Blues to loan the misfit defender, who continues to push for a move to Aston Villa, as things are complicated at this moment.

The Axel Disasi situation is a complication that Chelsea would not want on the final day of the transfer window. The defender is clearly not part of Enzo Maresca’s plans, with the club seemingly open to letting him leave on loan.

As Disasi was unhappy at Chelsea, he was pushing to sign for Aston Villa as soon as Unai Emery’s side registered an interest in the defender. The Spanish boss wants a new defender in the squad after selling Diego Carlos and the fresh injury concern with Tyrone Mings.

Aston Villa and Disasi already have an agreement on personal terms, and the player wants the switch to the Birmingham-based club. However, Chelsea has had a change of stance, as Fabrizio Romano reports that they are unwilling to negotiate with Villa for Disasi, as the Blues now consider them as direct rivals for a top-four place.

Their stance may have also complicated any potential move for Joao Felix, as Villa may have to push for a permanent transfer to sign the Portuguese attacker. To make things complicated, Tottenham entered the race for Disasi as soon as Chelsea’s stance on Aston Villa became clearer, with Spurs now finding an agreement to sign the 26-year-old Chelsea man on loan for the remainder of the season.

Axel Disasi rejects Tottenham

Tottenham’s loan agreement with Chelsea does not include a buy option or obligation, meaning this will be a move lasting only six months. However, Disasi has repeatedly rejected a move to the north London side; it’s not the first time in this window that Spurs had an agreement for a player and then suffered rejection. They have already experienced the same with Mathys Tel and Fikayo Tomori in the space of a few days.

Disasi prefers to join Aston Villa as things stand, but with Chelsea not keen on talking to Emery’s side over a deal, the Frenchman may have to make a choice. The complication here is that should the 26-year-old Chelsea man have a change of heart, there are doubts if Spurs will open their doors again after the public knowledge of his rejection, which could, in turn, force the Blues to re-open talks with Villa.
