Marcus Rashford set for Sunday medical as Aston Villa move nears

Marcus Rashford is reportedly on the cusp of temporarily ending his horrid situation at Manchester United by completing a loan move to Aston Villa.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Marcus Rashford is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans have moved quickly to seal an agreement with Manchester United over a loan deal for the struggling attacker. The West Midlands club will also reserve a purchase option worth £40 million to complete a permanent deal in the summer transfer window.

The Englishman has already agreed to personal terms with Aston Villa, and the West Midlands outfit will pay 70 per cent of his £350,000-a-week wages. The loan agreement with Manchester United includes bonuses for “progressing in Europe and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League again”. Rashford will undergo his medical tests on Sunday before completing his move.

Marcus Rashford and the desperation for a winter move

Marcus Rashford has been desperate to sort his situation out after becoming a peripheral figure at Manchester United in the last six weeks. While Ruben Amorim utilised the 27-year-old in his early outings, the academy graduate has not taken the field for Manchester United since the UEFA Europa League clash with Viktoria Plzen on December 12.

The English international has turned out over 400 times thus far for Manchester United while chipping in with 138 goals and 63 assists. However, Rashford has likely played his final game for the Red Devils, although there has not been a shortage of interest in him. Barcelona and Juventus pursued his signature before Aston Villa won the race to secure his services.

Move across the Premier League on the cards

Aston Villa did not take long to intensify the efforts to sign Marcus Rashford quickly sealing an agreement with the Englishman on personal terms. With Jhon Duran joining Al-Nassr, Unai Emery wanted more firepower in the final third. The Manchester United misfit thus emerged as a viable target, and he can be the ideal foil to Ollie Watkins.
