Liverpool and Manchester City are in the mix to challenge Manchester United in the chase for Geovany Quenda ahead of next summer.
According to Caught Offside, there’s an evolving situation brewing in the background in the race for Geovany Quenda. Liverpool and Manchester City are in the mix for the Sporting CP teenager, while Manchester United are currently considered the frontrunners for the right-sided attacker.
Geovany Quenda has been attracting massive interest from top Premier League teams since breaking through into the Sporting CP first team. Incidentally, he made his debut under Ruben Amorim and was predominantly used as a right wing-back by the current Manchester United boss.
Some reports from recent days have pointed at a possible agreement for Manchester United for Quenda, which publications from Portugal have dismissed out of hand. In fact, the suggestion is that the Red Devils are very much in the race, but they are not alone.
Amorim clearly wants Quenda in his set up at Manchester United to play in that right wing-back role, as Amad Diallo has cemented the right wing in the front three. Quenda has a €100 million release clause in his contract that runs until 2027, as recent reports have stated a fee close to €60 million could do the trick.
One biug problem for Manchester United is the interest from rivals, with Manchester City considered a big suitor for the €100 million-rated prodigy. Pep Guardiola’s side have the financial muscle to pip the Red Devils in the hunt for the teenage winger, and the Catalan manager could potentially prise him away with the option of using him as a front-three attacker rather than a wing-back.
Liverpool are considering Geovany Quenda
As per Record via Sport Witness, Liverpool are also in the mix to sign a new right winger next summer, irrespective of what transpires for Mohamed Salah’s future. The Merseysiders have held talks for Quenda in the recent past, and now with the indication that Sporting will be open to selling him, they are very much in the mix.
Liverpool will make an effort to bring Wuenda, who is seen as a big player for the future, as they seek to add to their attacking setup. For now, it seems like a big battle for the €100 million-rated prodigy from Sporting CP, as Manchester City and Manchester United are also seen as prime contenders.
