Everton working on signing Carney Chukwuemeka

Everton are keen on acquiring the services of Chelsea midfield sensation Carney Chukwuemeka, but negotiations remain complicated.

Everton haven’t really been at their best in the ongoing campaign. They are struggling to win games in the Premier League and find themselves within touching distance of the relegation zone. They are looking to make the most out of the final days of the transfer window by adding more quality to their squad.

The Toffees seek more quality in the centre of the park and according to a report from Football Insider, the Merseyside club are interested in the services of Carney Chukwuemeka who is surplus to requirements at Chelsea. While a potential deal is not that straightforward, Everton are willing to try their luck.

After coming up the ranks and making a name for himself at Aston Villa, Chukwuemeka made the move to Chelsea in the summer of 2022. While he has showcased signs of the immense talent he possesses, the 21-year-old hasn’t been able to establish himself in the Blues first team.

In the ongoing campaign, Chukwuemeka has been involved in just five games, racking up a total of just 130 minutes for first-team football. The player is frustrated by the lack of minutes and is on the lookout for a more prominent role elsewhere.

Everton want to sign Chukwuemeka

Multiple clubs are aware of his situation and are willing to offer him a way out of Stamford Bridge. Everton are one of the clubs that are keen on his signature as they look to reinforce their midfield. A serious knee injury to Orel Mangala has forced them to look into the market for an ideal replacement.

Chukwuemeka might not have played enough first-team football of late but he has proved himself in the English top flight during his time at Aston Villa as well as during the limited opportunities he has had at Chelsea. While the Toffees consider him an ideal fit for their setup under David Moyes and have him on their wishlist for the final days of the window, signing him won’t be easy.

Everton are working hard to bring him to the club before the winter window ends. But, since they already have four players on loan, they can’t go ahead and sign Chukwuemeka temporarily as Premier League rules only allow a club to sign four players on loan. They must either sign one of them permanently or terminate their loan deal to create space for the Chelsea star.

The English top-flight rules do not allow a club to sign two players on loan from the same club. Since they already have Armando Broja on loan from the London club who are not willing to terminate his deal, things only get complicated for Everton.
