Manchester City hold fresh talks to sign Andrea Cambiaso

Premier League champions Manchester City have reportedly held new talks to sign 24-year-old Italian international Andrea Cambiaso from Serie A club Juventus.

According to a report by Football Insider, Andrea Cambiaso remains the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions have been scouring the market for a full-back heading into the winter transfer window, with the Juventus defender emerging as a target. They have held new talks with the Serie A giants to sign the 24-year-old wide player, who wants the move.

The rise of Andrea Cambiaso

Andrea Cambiaso has been one of the best full-backs/wing-backs in Serie A since establishing a foothold in the first-team squad at Juventus. The Genoa native has been with the Bianconeri since July 2022 but became a regular for the Turin giants in the 2023/24 season.

Since then, the 24-year-old has come leaps and bounds, establishing himself as a mainstay in the Serie A club’s defensive unit. Cambiaso has turned out over 50 times thus far for Juventus while chipping in with five goals and eight assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe.

Widespread reports have linked the Italian international with Real Madrid. However, a move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Manchester City among his prospective suitors in the final days of the winter transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Manchester City’s interest in Andrea Cambiaso makes sense. The Premier League champions have been scouring the market for a full-back heading into the winter transfer window. Pep Guardiola needs an option for both flanks, with Rico Lewis the only recognised full-back in the Manchester City squad.

Josko Gvardiol, a centre-back, has played as a left-back for Manchester City for much of his stint thus far at the Etihad. So, Cambiaso has emerged as a viable target, with the Premier League club holding new talks to sign him. The player can be a two-in-one solution for Manchester City, as he can play on both flanks.

Recent reports have suggested that the Premier League bigwigs have been closing in on signing the 24-year-old Italian international, who wants to move to the Etihad. While an agreement is not on the cards, City will hope to find common ground with Juventus soon.
