Manchester City eyeing Zion Suzuki as Ederson replacement

Manchester City are looking to sign Parma goalkeeping sensation Zion Suzuki as Ederson’s replacement.

Manchester City have started planning for life without Ederson. Their number one has entered the final 18 months of his contract and could end up leaving the club next summer. As a result, Pep Guardiola’s team are on the lookout for an ideal replacement and according to a report from TBR, they have identified Parma shot-stopper Zion Suzuki as a perfect fit for them.

Suzuki had already made a name for himself while he was playing for Japanese club Urawa Reds. Multiple top clubs from across Europe were after his signature but he chose to move to Belgian outfit Sint-Truiden for regular first-team action before joining Parma in a deal worth €10 million in the last summer window.

While he only has three clean sheets in his 18 outings for the Italian club, the 22-year-old has shown great promise. He has done most things right and his work hasn’t gone unnoticed. He finds himself on the wishlist of Manchester City who are looking to revive their squad with multiple signings over the new few transfer windows.

After dominating the Premier League for years, Pep Guardiola’s team have struggled this time around because of injuries and a dip in form of a few of their stars. City could part ways with quite a few of their stars in the near future.

Suzuki to replace Ederson at City

While Ederson still has a lot of football left in him, the Brazilian shot-stopper could leave City next summer as his contract runs out in 2026. He has been linked with a move to the Middle East for some time and the Manchester-based club are unlikely to stand in his way if he decides to leave.

Guardiola already has Stefan Ortega as an ideal backup but they are also looking at Zion Suzuki as an option to replace the South American goalkeeper. The Japanese shot-stopper could be a great signing for the short as well as the long run.

City have been regularly scouting him this season and Parma are gearing up to listen to offers for the young goalkeeper who has made quite a name for himself.

Back in the day, the 22-year-old had the opportunity to move to Manchester United but he turned it down in search of regular minutes. His decision to turn down the Red Devils back in 2023 will make him an instant hit amongst City fans if he does end up joining them.
