La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing 17-year-old Brazilian full-back prodigy Nicolas Bosshardt from Sao Paulo.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Nicolas Bosshardt is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a left-back heading into the summer transfer window. So, the 17-year-old Sao Paulo full-back prodigy has emerged as a target for the Blaugrana.
Who is Nicolas Bosshardt?
Nicolas Bosshardt is the latest highly-rated prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. While the teenage prospect has yet to break into the first-team squad but has made waves with his exploits in age-group football in Brazil. He also turns out for his country’s under-17 side.
A full-back in the modern mould, the 17-year-old is as adept at the back as in the final third. Bosshardt has enjoyed a productive 2024 season, chipping in with seven goals and seven assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. So, the youngster is a well-rounded player with a bright future.
Meanwhile, Bosshardt’s progress in his homeland has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of well-known clubs across Europe. Barcelona will be one of the prospective suitors for the Brazilian full-back prodigy’s signature, with the Blaugrana establishing contact regarding a move for the teenager.
Catalonian adventure on the cards?
Barcelona’s interest in Nicolas Bosshardt is understandable. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a left-back heading into the 2025 summer transfer window. While Alejandro Balde has been excellent since breaking into the first-team squad, Hansi Flick wants a top-notch alternative to the Spanish international due to the rigours of a long and hectic season.
So, several candidates, including Tyrick Mitchell, have emerged on Barcelona’s radar. However, Bosshardt is also a viable target, considering his age profile and potential. However, the Blaugrana might face a tall order to land the South American full-back prodigy, as he has a release clause worth €60 million in his contract with Sao Paulo.
Barcelona will hope to negotiate the transfer fee to an agreeable sum instead of coughing up €60 million to secure Bosshardt’s services. So, it will be interesting to see if the 17-year-old Brazilian left-back arrives in Catalonia once he turns 18.
