The Bayer Leverkusen star will have many suitors angling for a move from January onwards when he will be free to agree on a pre-contract with foreign clubs, as Chelsea is looking at him closely.
Jonathan Tah was widely expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen in the summer after a tremendous season in which he helped Xabi Alonso’s side clinch the Bundesliga title. The team also went unbeaten throughout the campaign, as the 28-year-old was one of their key performers.
Tah entered the final year of his deal at Leverkusen, as Bayern Munich were tipped to sign him on a cut-price deal. Either way, a move never materialised, as the 28-year-old has stayed at Leverkusen and increasingly looks likely to leave on a free transfer, as the club are uninterested in a January sale.
A host of Premier League sides are looking at Tah, including Manchester United, Tottenham, and Chelsea, as his experience is seen as vital in the chase. Moreover, his availability on a Bosman deal makes it even more appealing for those teams to sign him.
Real Madrid could pose a considerable threat, as they view Tah as a January replacement for Eder Militao. The Brazilian suffered another ACL injury that ended his season. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are short in central defence, meaning a player like the Leverkusen man would seem ideal, and the chances of an offer coming in January are high.
