Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing 28-year-old Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, a target for Manchester United and Barcelona.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Madrid are plotting a move for Jonathan Tah. However, the reigning La Liga champions will face competition from Manchester United and Barcelona for the 28-year-old Bayer Leverkusen defender.
The German defender will be free in the summer of 2025, and he could be available for a reasonable price in January. Alternatively, he could secure a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs when the transfer window reopens in January and join them in a Bosman move in the 2025 summer transfer window.
Eder Militao is ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious injury, and it seems that Real Madrid might be looking at Tah as a cover for the Brazilian in January. It is no secret that they needed to bring in defensive reinforcements anyway.
David Alaba is 32 and, Antonio Rudiger is 31. Real Madrid need to start planning for the future and Tah would be a quality addition. Jonathan Tah could be a leader at the back for them. He is at the peak of his powers right now, and he could be a key player for them over the next few seasons. In addition, the opportunity to sign him on a free transfer will be hard to turn down.
Manchester United and Barcelona want Tah
Similarly, Manchester United need a central defender to replace Harry Maguire, and Jonathan Tah seems like the ideal acquisition. The 28-year-old won the Bundesliga with Leverkusen last season, and he will feel that the time is right to try out a new challenge. A move to the Premier League could be quite attractive for him. Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the opportunity to play for them will be tempting.
Barcelona have been linked with the defender as well. They could certainly use a bargain signing like him. The Blaugrana are going through financial difficulties, and the 28-year-old would be a superb addition to their defensive unit for a reasonable amount of money.
The Catalan giants are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the German defender would be tempted to join them as well. All three clubs would be exciting opportunities for him, and it remains to be seen where he ends up.
