Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham hold talks with Jonathan Tah

West Ham United interested in Jonathan Tah.

Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham have held talks with Bayer Leverkusen defensive mainstay Jonathan Tah regarding a move to the Premier League.

According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are all keen on signing Jonathan Tah, and they have recently held talks to bring him to England on a free transfer in the summer of 2025.

Tah’s contract at Bayer Leverkusen is running out, and he will be free to sign pre-contract agreements with other clubs in January. As a result, all three Premier League clubs are making their moves to ensure they can land him at the club in a Bosman move next summer.

The German international joined Bayer Leverkusen back in the summer of 2015. He has gone from strength to strength over the years and has established himself as one of the mainstays in the team. Tah had an exceptional 2023/24 season as Leverkusen won the Bundesliga title unbeaten. They even lifted the DFB-Pokal and made it to the final of the Europa League.

The experienced defender has started the new campaign in fine fashion and continues to be one of the go-to men under Xabi Alonso. However, Jonathan Tah won’t be around next summer. His contract runs out at the end of the season, and he has already decided to leave the club for a new experience elsewhere, with bigwigs like Real Madrid keen.

Tah could be headed to the Premier League

Manchester United, Tottenham, and Chelsea are all keen on his signature. They want to make the most out of the situation as the 28-year-old German international is available for a free transfer. They are involved in discussions to sign him and have spoken to intermediaries to help them get a deal over the line.

The Red Devils did add Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro to their squad in the summer. But with Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof’s contract running out, they are looking to bring in Jonathan Tah to strengthen their defence.

Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou seeks more depth at the back and with Cristian Romero’s long-term future uncertain amidst interest from Real Madrid, they are looking at the German centre-back as someone who can help keep things together at the back.

Similarly, Chelsea seek more quality at the back. While they do have a lot of young defensive sensations in the team, the Blues want a more experienced campaigner. So, Jonathan Tah could help their cause.
