Chelsea scouted Bayer Leverkusen attacking sensation Victor Boniface in their Champions League outing against AC Milan.
Chelsea had a decent summer transfer window where they added a lot of quality to their squad and they have made an emphatic start to life under Enzo Maresca. While everything seems to be going in the right direction, the Blues are still looking at ways to further improve their squad.
The London club were in the market for a new striker during the summer and despite the exceptional form of their forwards, Chelsea are still on the lookout for a new number nine. According to a report from TBR, the Blues are interested in the services of Victor Boniface and they recently scouted him ahead of a potential transfer.
Xabi Alonso made a lot of efforts to bring Boniface from Union SG to Germany in the summer of 2023. The 23-year-old Nigerian international seems to have taken his game to the next level under the Spanish manager. So far he has featured in 42 matches for Leverkusen and has contributed towards 37 goals (26 goals, 11 assists).

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed and Chelsea are one of the clubs that have been keeping a close eye on him. The Blues wanted to sign a world-class number nine during the summer. They were in talks with a few of their top targets for those moves didn’t materialise.
While they have made an excellent start to the new season, they are still keen on signing a striker and Boniface is one of the names on their wishlist. He was on their radar earlier in the summer and they retain interest in him.
The Blues had their representatives in the stands to watch Leverkusen take on AC Milan in matchday 2 of the Champions League on Tuesday evening. Boniface surely made a mark as he scored the only goal of the game and guided his team to victory.
With Chelsea keen on signing a striker, they could soon knock on the doors of Leverkusen for the services of the Nigerian ace. While he is a key part of the German club, they won’t mind letting him leave as long as they received a handsome fee.
