Liverpool keen on Exequiel Palacios

Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Exequiel Palacios amidst interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Liverpool didn’t have the best transfer windows as they missed out on quite a few of their top targets and they could only complete a handful of deals before the deadline. While Arne Slot has still managed to get off to a great start, the Dutch manager is keen on reinforcing his squad.

The Reds have their eyes on a few Bayer Leverkusen stars as they look to ensure they maintain the levels reached under Jurgen Klopp. According to a report from CaughtOffside, the Merseyside club are interested in the services of Exequiel Palacios who has been a consistent performer for the German club.

After coming up the ranks at River Plate, Palacios made the move to Germany at the start of 2020 and he hasn’t looked back since. The Argentine World Cup winner was an integral part of their team last season as they won the Bundesliga unbeaten and only suffered one defeat across competitions during the 2023/24 season.

He did exceptionally well as a defensive midfielder as well as a touch further up the pitch. While he still has close to four years left on his deal, the 25-year-old could be on the move in the near future as Premier League clubs are keen on prising him away.

Liverpool, Chelsea & Arsenal to battle for Palacios

Liverpool are one of the clubs keen on signing the Argentine international. The Reds missed out on Martin Zubimendi during the summer and as per reports, they won’t return for his services in the future. As a result, Palacios seems to be a great alternative for them.

The Reds like him a lot and he has all the qualities to succeed in the English top flight. But, they are not the only Premier League that are keen on his services as Chelsea and Arsenal are also considering making a move. Despite adding Mikel Merino to his squad, Mikel Arteta seeks more depth and the Leverkusen midfielder could be a great fit for them.

While the Blues are well covered in the centre of the park, majority of their players are quite young and only have limited experience. As a result, Palacios could be a great option for them.
