Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are keen on having the 25-year-old Bayer Leverkusen star Exequiel Palacios in their ranks.
According to SportBild via SportWitness, Aston Villa are keen on further bolstering their squad in the near future and they have their eyes set on Exequiel Palacios. The 25-year-old has been in sensational form in the ongoing season and his performances have attracted a lot of attention from across Europe.
Palacios came up the ranks at River Plate, he made it to their first team in the winter of 2017. After three years with the senior team of his childhood club, he ended up joining Bayer Leverkusen. Since making the move to the German club, he has featured in a total of 108 matches and has contributed towards 20 goals.
His performances in the ongoing season have been on another level. He is one of the reasons for Leverkusen’s dominance in the German league. The Argentine World Cup winner has been a rock in front of the defence and has seven goal contributions in all competitions.
Those performances have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe. Aston Villa from England are one of the clubs that seem to be quite interested in having the 25-year-old in their ranks. Villa have gone from strength to strength in the recent past under Emery and they are looking to further bolster their squad.
Palacios’ arrival will give them a strong base to attack. Emery is keen on having him and they are expected to make a move in the summer. Villa have already done business with the German club in the recent past. They signed Leon Bailey back in 2021 and last summer, the English club struck a deal for Moussa Diaby.
They have strong relations with people at the club and can use old contacts to help sign the World Cup winner whose current deal runs until the summer of 2028. Given his importance to the Leverkusen team and his long-term contract, they are unlikely to let him leave on the cheap. As per the report, they will not let him leave for less than €60 million.
