Galatasaray line up late move for Ben Davies

2023/24 Turkish Super Lig winners Galatasaray are reportedly keen on sealing a late move for ten-season Tottenham Hotspur veteran Ben Davies.

According to a report by Turkish outlet Takvim, Ben Davies is the subject of interest from Galatasaray. The 2023/24 Super Lig winners are keen on bolstering their defensive unit by signing a versatile defender. The ten-season Tottenham Hotspur veteran has thus emerged as a target, with Cimbom eyeing a late move before the summer transfer window shuts down this week.

Ben Davies and his Tottenham journey so far

Ben Davies has been a solid performer for Tottenham Hotspur since arriving from Swansea City in July 2014. The Welshman spent most of his formative years in his homeland with the Swans but also had a three-year stint with Viborg FF in Denmark. Meanwhile, he has been an asset for Tottenham due to his ability to reprise multiple roles in the backline.

The ten-season veteran has excelled in his primary roles of left-back and left wing-back but has also been a revelation as a centre-back. The 31-year-old has turned over 300 times thus far for Tottenham Hotspur while chipping in with nine goals and 23 assists.

However, the Welsh international, who has represented the Dragons 88 times thus far, faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after entering the final 12 months of his contract with the North London club. They might earn something from the remainder of his deal, with Galatasaray keen on signing the veteran full-back.

Okan Buruk wants Davies at Galatasaray

Galatasaray’s interest in Ben Davies is understandable. The 2023/24 Turkish Super Lig winners are keen on bolstering their backline before the summer transfer window shuts down later this week. With Okan Buruk eager to play with a three-at-the-back system, he wants a versatile defender, bringing the ten-season Tottenham veteran into the picture.

With Davies in the final 12 months of his contract and Tottenham open to cashing in on him, a late cut-price move might be on the cards. The 88-cap Welsh international will be a solid addition to the Galatasaray squad if the deal sees the light of day.

While Tottenham expected Davies to leave as a free agent after an exit did not materialise last month, they might get something from his departure instead of losing him for nothing. It will be interesting to see if a late move to Turkiye sees the light of day.
