Manchester United decide against summer move for a left-back

Manchester United will not be pushing to sign a new left-back in the final days of the ongoing transfer window.

According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Manchester United are not going to sign a new left-back this summer. They have decided against looking for a short-term fix following the injury to Luke Shaw and are ready to back Diogo Dalot and summer signing Noussair Mazraoui to fill on the left flank.

Injuries to key defenders were one of the major problems for Erik ten Hag’s team last season. They struggled to cope with fitness issues at the back and to improve the situation, they have made significant investments to reinforce their backline.

The Red Devils have added Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt to add more depth to the heart of the defence. In addition, they have brought in Noussair Mazraoui to strengthen the flanks. While these arrivals do solve the majority of their headaches, the left-back position remains a major headache for Ten Hag and Manchester United.

The Dutch manager was without both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia for most parts of last season. It caused quite a few problems for them. While Shaw did make a return towards the end of last season and was a part of Gareth Southagte’s England squad for Euro 2024, he has once again picked up a calf injury and has been sidelined until the international break.

Manchester United won’t sign a new left-back this summer

Manchester United have been linked with players who can help them in the short term. But, it seems they have decided against signing a new left-back. The Premier League heavyweights have not done well with short-term signings, and their new sporting director Dan Ashworth has been urged to not prioritise signing a left-back this summer.

Even Ten Hag is resisting the temptation to sign a new left-back. He is considering making a move for a new left-sided full-back only if the problem still exists at the turn of the year. The Dutch manager feels Dalot and Mazraoui are capable enough to fill in as left-back in the absence of Shaw, and it should not be much of a problem for them.
