Pep Guardiola dreams of Manchester City move for Rodrygo Goes

Pep Guardiola reportedly dreams of signing 23-year-old Brazilian attacker Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA, Rodrygo Goes is the subject of interest from Manchester City. Pep Guardiola is driving the Premier League club’s move for the Real Madrid attacker, with the Brazilian international one of his dream targets to replace Julian Alvarez in the summer transfer window.

The Rodrygo Goes story

Rodrygo Goes has come leaps and bounds since joining Real Madrid from Santos in July 2019. A native of Osasco, he spent his formative years in Brazil before graduating from the youth division at Santos FC. However, he has seen his stock soar during his spell with Real Madrid thus far.

The 23-year-old has turned out over 200 times thus far for Real Madrid while amassing 54 goals and 41 appearances. While the player has not stamped his authority in the last half a decade, he has established himself as a pivotal figure for Los Blancos, making his mark in every trophy-winning campaign.

However, Kylian Mbappe’s arrival from Paris Saint-Germain this summer has paved the way for Rodrygo’s long-term future at Real Madrid to come under a cloud of uncertainty. Meanwhile, the Brazilian international does not have a shortage of suitors pursuing his signature in the summer transfer window, with Manchester City among the interested clubs.

Manchester City want the Real Madrid attacker

Manchester City’s interest in Rodrygo Goes is understandable. The Premier League champions are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the final weeks of the summer transfer window, with Julian Alvarez closing in on joining Atletico Madrid in a shock move.

So, it behoves Manchester City to sign a replacement for Alvarez, even though they have signed Savinho. The Real Madrid attacker has thus emerged as a viable target for Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola dreaming of bringing him to the Etihad in the summer transfer window.

However, securing Rodrygo’s services in the summer transfer window might be a tall order as he does not want to leave Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if Manchester City and Pep Guardiola can turn the 23-year-old Brazilian attacker’s head.
